Ad-Aware 6.0 and Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3 are freeware program's designed to find advertisers hidden programs on your PC (spyware, adware, hijackers) and remove them. It has been known to be helpful in cutting back on Spam as well as sometimes helping with speed issues on your home PC. Removing these corporate spy programs can reduce drag on a PC's ram which means faster operations for your machine.
